Whoah!
These boots are beautiful out of the box. Of course I knew they would be, but the perforations on the shaft actually give these boots extra character. I fought for 3 weeks about the color, and in those three weeks….the price went down….lucky me! I ended up getting the tan color, and they are better then exspected. As far as fit goes, I wear a 7 1/2 usually but after reading reviews on other websites, I ordered a size 7. I am so glad I did! Thanks Frye, and Amazon I am so happy with my purchase.

Greatest Boots Ever!!!
Where do I begin? Every thing about these boots is great, the leather, the color, the style, everything.. I can wear these boots with everything and anything, leggings, jeans, dresses and even dressy pants. They are are so comfortable right out of the box. Runs a little bit too big, so get a half size less always with FRYEs, they only go mid Calf, which is perfect for me since I have big calfs. I got the Dark brown, it is just beautiful and for that price, it’s a steal, I have never seen a FRYE for this price, am so happy with this buy Thanks to Amazon.

Finally “get” Frye
Wow, I’ve tried several styles of Frye and never got why people raved about there comfort and classic styling, until I tried the Carson riding. My foot is slightly wide and these fit great. they were a tad snug, not tight at first, but I compare them to a belt made of great leather, stretches after a couple of wears. The leather by the way is so awesome. The opening stays put on my calve,I’m a runner so i have muscular legs. If you have skinny calves these may slouch. i ordered them in emerald and fell so in love I now have the carson pull on in black and shortie in tan, they’re that good. these boots run large though I am a solid 7 but took a 6 1/2. You will fall in love with these Fryes.

Unique, Comfy and Versatile
so, I really love these boots. They are beautiful and the leather has a nice sheen although, the leather could be a little thicker. I am always an 8 in Fryes but I need a 7.5 in these. I could have got an insole and they would have been fine but I opted to exchange them for the smaller size. The look is very cool although I think that it is uncessary for Frye to make the toes of their boots so long. I was surprised that they did not make my feet look huge but do not expect that they will make your feet look tiny either. Regardless of the flaws of the boot, they look so great with everything and the colors are rich (I got the Emerald). Finally, a boot for girls with thinner calves. They slouch but are not huge like some of the other styles.

new Frye lover!
This is my first pair of Frye boots. I was looking for a style that had been on sale on another site and sold out. I came across the Carson riding on sale here and thought the emerald would be fun. I’m definitely not the cowboy boot type (I always think you have to have horses to wear them)so didn’t know if I would like them. They are not too western for me and are really cute! Wonderful boots; so comfortable and the leather is pliable and a beautiful color, almost black but not quite. It goes with a lot more colors than you would think. Very slippery, though, so scuff them up on the bottom. I read reviews before buying and did go down half a size to a 7 and they fit with room for socks. My calf is 13.5″ and the shaft on these is about 14″ so perfect for tights and skinny jeans (also look really good with skirts). They would stretch out pretty easily if a little tight at first, I think. As a result of this purchase, I now have a couple more pair of Frye boots and I’m a convert!

Awesome boots
These are great boots. Sturdy and slightly clunky, but without being too casual or manly. The toe is rounded, but not as blunt as the Campus boots, making these more versatile and classic. The heel height is manageable, even if you walk a lot. Be prepared for a long-ish break-in period as these boots are made of thick, real leather, including the soles. A little slippage in the heel area is a good thing. It’ll go away once you’ve broken these in. I found these boots to be true to size. I initially ordered them a half-size smaller after reading a number of reviews here and elsewhere, but found them to be WAY too tight and nearly impossible to put on. Definitely go with your normal shoe size unless you happen to have very narrow feet and thin calves (I have normal width feet and athletic calves). I might have to get the shaft stretched a little so that I can tuck jeans into these, but otherwise I’m very happy with my purchase. I can tell right away that I’ll be wearing these for years.

well worth it- but the heel is definitely high. i thought it would be 2 and a quarter but its more like 2 and a half. beautiful leather and quality.

Oh. My. God. Mine at Last.
The Frye Harness Mid-Calf 12R in Tan? Well, what can I say? I am one satisfied woman, thank you very much. And for someone who’s never had a shoe fetish–I’ve had the same pair of shoes for a decade–I’m beginning to grow an obsessive love affair with Frye products.

First, understand that this is the first time I’ve ever bought shoes on line and for [...] bucks (+ shipping)….? Really, ouch. But, my god. Heaven. Not only did they come super fast, but exactly as the pictures showed. Plus, I am the world’s pickiest shoe buyer, hence, 10 year old shoes…

I’m barely 5′3, pretty short but I’ve got stocky legs and large calves. And while I fell in love with the boot style while abroad in Greece, and enviously saw how the Greek women could pull it off so well, I just couldn’t find a pair that fit over my large calves (which is about 14-14.5″ circum). After two years, and I swear a million tries, I decided, what the hell, go for the expensive Fryes. And I hate shelling out dough for shoes. Hate. It. But…

Once I saw these, had to have. And boy, nearly perfect. Feminine but tough looking, solidly built and nice thick leather. I still can’t get over it. They fit over my calves, about mid-calf just as it’s supposed to, though just a little tighter than I would have liked. But after months of wearing, there’s now enough room so that there’s no pinching. Considering most boots that go past the ankle, not to mention my he-man calves, was always a no-go for me, well…I was more than pleased. And, I’ve been told by others that they wear and stretch wondrously. The toe is a little more narrow than I’m used to and the heel a bit roomier. I have a wide foot so I got a half size larger. And surprisingly, I walk just fine and not too much movement or shifting. They’re incredibly sturdy, on ice or even soft areas, even stiff and unworn, I felt awesome. The leather is supple, well crafted, AND made in the good ol’ US of A, so I felt really patriotic flashing these around. N.B. These days, everything seems to be outsourced to a different country, some Fryes (especially the tall boots that go past low calf)are made in Mexico, so the sizes can be tricky.

Also, I’ve always had a wide foot so that’s why the toe is a little more narrow than I’m used to, but while others said the size was a bit larger for them, for my wide feet, perfect. The narrowness will break in your feet–what I mean is that if you have a wide foot, that bone that makes up your pinky toe will get a little sore after repetitive wear. If you wear them sporadically and not daily or often, this will persist, so get your feet used to them and walk around in them for awhile. Afterwords, it’ll feel like your those shoes were made for your feet!

Someone mentioned the weight, yes, a bit heavy but easy to get used to if you wear them on a regular basis, Once you break in the shoes, and your shoes your feet, it’s smooth sailing, and it doesn’t take long. Either way, didn’t deter me in the slightest. Also, thick socks will help fill the space if you have a wide foot like I do and you are forced to get a half size up, but get breathable socks, your feet will stay plenty toasty. This is paramount for the warmer weather, get socks that have breathable construction, or light weight, specially made for warm/hot weather.

If you check their site, these boots aren’t listed, and the nearest ones to them were nearly [...] bucks alone. When I went to the only store out of god knows how many (and I tried a few on and that’s how I knew the calves would be wide enough), the ones that were similar to these were also priced around [...] bucks. And knock offs, why bother, get the real deal. When I compared the two at the store, the difference is so obvious, it’s obscene. Even I, who buy cheap, cheap shoes, was blown away by the quality and craftsmanship. That’s what really bowled me over, seeing them, feeling them and weighing them in my hands. Real shoes, people. Real. Shoes.

And I wasn’t aware of it, but several of my aunts and uncles have only worn Frye boots, and absolutely swear by them. They last forever when taken care of, and even if you’re a bit lazy, still last. You just can’t go wrong. One my uncles has had a pair for almost 20 years, and the leather is nice and soft, with a nice worn look from over the years and molded perfectly for his feet and legs.

Care – Remember, if you’re wearing them all the time, and on hard surfaces, the heel and soles will wear quickly. So have a good shoe repair place in mind, otherwise the boots will be ruined–forever. To soften up the leather, clean it, and to protect it, use saddle soap once a month.If the calf circum is too tight, you go to your local shoe repair shop and ask them to stretch them out. You can do it yourself but I wouldn’t risk it, not unless you know what you’re doing.

All in all. A new obsession has bloomed, and it’s called F-R-Y-E. And I’m already thinking of buying another pair…

My favorite boots
I love my Frye boots! I own several pairs of the 12R Harness boots and they are so comfortable. They do run a little big, so I always order a half size down (I generally wear an 8, but in Frye boots I order a 7.5), but I have also found that are a little narrow around the toe area. I have narrow feet to begin with, so if you have wider feet, you may run into some trouble.

If your boots are tight in a couple of areas, I will also suggest getting your boots professionally stretched by a cobbler. I live in a rather remote mountain town that doesn’t have a shoe repair shop, so I bought a wooden shoe stretcher and some spray to stretch out the few spots that were tight. It worked really well and now I have room for all of my toes so that they aren’t squished.

These boots look great with everything – jeans, corduroy pants and long skirts especially. If you are looking for some boots with a little attitude, I highly recommend them!

The Comfort of Frye
These are, by far, the most comfortable boots I have ever owned! I am a huge fan of Dansko clogs, and these Frye boots are just as comfortable and sturdy! They run a bit on the large side, about a half size difference. You will love them!!!!!

Awesome Boot!
I’ve been through so many pairs of snow boots and I’m so glad I bought this pair! I live in NYC and finding a boot that’s warm, waterproof, and super cute is pretty difficult to find (forget Uggs). I hate bulky boots, this pair is so light and comfortable! I love the fact that this boot is very practical (really, does it make sense to have a wedged snow boot?) and that I can trudge around in these boots in Vermont over the weekends too! Size runs pretty true to size.

Chicago winter here I come!
I ordered these on Sunday night and they were here Tuesday afternoon. At first, I was really afraid they were going to be ugly (for the sake of function) and too big (I got a 40 EU and I wear an 8 1/2 US). Well, when I took them out of their huge box, they were like the best Kwanzaa gift you couldn’t wait to get! They look so nice with my skinny jeans and generally fit the bill for casual, functional and attractive boots. I am a college student who walks a great deal on a large campus and in the city. I know these are going to keep my feet warm and dry in these long, hard Chicago winters (unlike my Bearpaw and On Your Feet boots that were leaking moisture after being put to work for about 3 months). If you want an alternative to the overwhelming trend that is Ugg-like boots, I highly recommend these. I like to be as thorough as possible with my posts so pple won’t have to search for reviews like I do so long story short: They are fashionable, you’ll never beat the price, obviously durable, very confident tread on the sole, and stupidly warm. I looked at them and thought: how can these expensive shoes (retail $200, folks!) be so thin. Yep…put my bare right foot in them for about 1 minute and I could feel my own body heat circulating inside of the shoe keeping my foot warm. It’s a heat trap that I can’t describe, but my feet are always cold, and I can honestly say my right foot is still warmer than my bare left foot though I’ve taken the boots off about 10 minutes ago. I think this Chicago winter will be a pretty warm one:)

we had a lot of rain
good in the snow and rain, but not my favorite boot. the lining gets caught when you put your foot in and is uncomfortable. and when you pull your leg out the lining comes with you so it needs to be stuck back in. pajar boots are canadian and even have the canada flag on the back. but the tag inside says, ‘made in romania’. whatever.

Great Northeast Winter Boot
I have had this boot for several weeks in the upstate NY area mid winter. I love it so far. I love the looks of it – under jeans or over a pair of skinnies. They are toasty, have a nice soft but thin lining which I have no problem keeping inside the boot despite other reviews to the contrary. Slush and muck, snow, sleet etc I have never ended up with wet socks wearing these. They seem to have a solid tread good for slippery conditions. They are form fitting, making them easy to drive with compared to some clunky sorrel-type boots I used to have. However, I could see someone with wider feet having a tight squeeze. I wear a 6.5 or 6 in a high heel pump, but I ordered the equivalent to a 7-7.5 to accomodate for socks. They have plenty of wiggle room in the toe box. Overall I’d say the best winter boots I’ve ever owned, most versatile and stand up to the elements great. Well worth it. They cost over $160-200 at the store, I got mine from amazon for $106 on sale. Have no problems standing around or walking long distances with them.

This boots are warm and comfortable but not water-proof. None the less I wear them every day now because of the durability and comfort. Also, I wear 8 1/2 and purchased size 9 and they were kinda big, but since I wear the insole it worked for me fine.

Franco Sarto Boots Kick Tush!
I tried these on in a local boutique but they weren’t available in my size, however, they were so beyond comfortable, I just had to have them!!
I ordered them first in my normal size but they were too big – the exchange for a smaller size was simple. They run about a half size too big and have plenty of room in the calf if that’s usually a problem for you. So worth the money and so fashionable – even my husband noticed them!

comfortable and fashionable! my fav combo!
I bought these shoes for the “wow” factor, and they definitely do not disappoint!!! I receive compliments on these shoes constantly, and I recommend them because they are not only cute, but very comfortable. I have worn them all day at work and for my “after work” activities and have not fallen, created blisters, nor have I crawled home in pain!!

Gorgeous shoes
These shoes are absolutely beautiful (I ordered the black) and seem pretty comfortable for as high of heels as they are. The only problem: these shoes are very narrow. I’m hopeful that the part around the toes will eventually stretch out some because this part of the shoe is very tight. The rest of it is great (even around the ankle — I have big ankles), but the wide part of my foot before the toes is not. I don’t have the most narrow feet, but I never have to buy “wide” shoes, either.

Bottom line, beautiful shoes, but if you’re concerned about the width, you might reconsider. I contemplated buying these shoes for weeks and am very happy I have them, but unless I can get that one part of the shoe to stretch out some, they are mostly going to be in their box and not on my feet.

AWESOME SHOES!
I love Crocs. They are so comfortable and it’s like wearing no shoes at all! Add burnt orange and a longhorn and these are the BEST shoes ever! I’ve had several compliments. I’m a teacher and several students have asked me where I got them! I LOVE THESE SHOES!
